The warning came after journalists asked the minister as to whether this disaster is not connected to African magic; a matter which some journalists said is common among some people in the countryside who accuse their neighbors of having a hand in sending such disasters to those they want to do harm to.

According to Ecweru, the lightening is a matter attributed to climate issues and does not in any way has connections with the African magic as some people especially witch doctors may claim.

He told journalists in Kampala that during the LRA war against people of Teso, he obtained Joseph Kony’s urine and called all witch doctors in the area to come and assist him in bewitching the LRA chief, but they all failed and fled to neighboring Busoga region.

Ecweru says claims by some people associating the lightening to African magic are unfounded because according to him, such magic cannot work instead it is a climate issue.

Lightening disaster has in the past few days caused misery to the people of Kiryandongo, Bugiri, Nwoya and Aleptong after it struck and killed many school going children and left others hospitalized.
