Uganda urged to popularize vocational education

The director Uganda Private Vocational Institutes Mirembe Edison has blamed politicians and policy makers for failing to sensitize the mass about values and importance of vocational training Education.

Mirembe says the policy makers have failed to advocate for practical education saying that a lot of emphasis has been put on theory which according to him is only examined by Uganda National Examinations Board hindering the ability of to perform practical skills.

He says political leaders should play a role of sensitizing the masses on the importance and value of vocational training.

The director has advised government to establish more vocational training schools in the Rwenzori region to reduce on congestion in the existing institutions.
