Uganda Heart Institute asks for more funding

The director of Uganda Heart Institute Dr. John Omongino has called on the government to increase funding to the Uganda heart institute.

He says most of the equipment and drugs required by the institute are of high cost making the services at the institute costly.

Dr. Omongino also added that the funding is also insufficient to provide the necessary equipment for providing heart institute making it hard for the institute to provide some hard tasks like open heart surgery.

He warned that with increase in heart patients, the number of people seeking heart surgery outside the country and those dying heart problems is likely to increase if the institute is not well funded and equipped.
