Speaking to journalists at parliament Tuunde said that the only way to handle such situations is through negotiations rather than demonstrations.

She said that teachers should first use all the avenues available and come up with a unanimous agreement on how their problems can be handled.

Tuunde however says that the teachers cause is pertinent and therefore needs to be looked into seriously by government as soon as possible.

Teachers are asking the governnemtn to increase their salaries by 100% so that the least paid earns 400, 000 shillings. They also want the government to increase the threshold of charging Pay and As You Earn tax.

Tuunde says that government has to increase the threshold saying that the current 130,000 thousand is so low.
