Police under investigation poisoning of 12 people at a wedding party

Police in Kasese is investigating the allegations into which 12 people could have been poisoned at a wedding party in Kyando sub-county Kasese district.

It is said 12 people all residents of Kisinga trading centre, Kyesinga sub-county were rushed to Kadoga Hospital n Saturday shortly after they developed stomach complications and started vomiting at a wedding party.
The criminal investigation officer Alex Ojoko has said the 12 people were part of the group of over 20 people who had accompanied the bride to the wedding ceremony.

Ojoko says food samples from Kyambisi have since been sent to Kampala at the government chemist. He says police had worked so hard to bring the situation come between the two affected families and to avoid any uprising of violence.

Ojoko says the cooks at the ceremony were held into custody briefly and later released on bond.

The chairperson LCIII of Kisinga sub-county Charles Kahindo says the number of people who reported the complications after attending the wedding is about 22. He said many others were treated with herbal medicines.
