District environmental officers urged to evict encroaches

District Environmental officers have been encouraged to exercise their powers to arrest and evict people who encroach on forests and wetland.

Officiating as chief guest during the closure of the climate change week at Lisiuex center Nyabukara, the local government minister Adolf Mwesige said that most stakeholders in environmental conservation have not played their roles as expected.

The minister says that despite the lack of financial support, community members have a role to play in the conservation of the environment for the betterment of the future generation.

The climate week that was organized by Kabarole Research and Resource Centre and Mountains of the Moon University under the theme “enhancing our adaptive capacity to the variability of climate change”.
