Mukono people with disabilities get mobility aids

Mukono district has started implementing its policy of uplifting the welfare of people with disabilities through distribution of mobility aids.

Among the items being distributed include wheelchairs and bicycles starting with those in rural sub-counties of Ntunda, Nagojje and Kimenyedde.

The LCV chairman Francis Lukoya says the objective is to make them self sustaining and less dependants on communities.

He said his council is committed to see people with disabilities cope with modern development trends by ongoing in government income generating and poverty reduction projects along side able bodied people.

Lukoya said the project is still moving at snails speed due to logistical problems but expressed optimism that with assistance from the district development partners they will achieve success.

The LCV secretary for production and male representation for People with disabilities Godfrey Nsubuga applauded the district leadership for allowing this chance to disabled persons.
