The construction of a mega petro station along Kaguta Road in Kamwenge Town Council has hit a snag after Police and Kamwenge Town Council blocked the developer on grounds of duo ownership of the plot.

In his letter dated 2nd.Mar.2011 addressed to the Managing Director Uganda Railways; Dan Mutuye was forwarded by Kamwenge Town Council authorities to re-develop the 60 by 100 feet plot along Kaguta Road into a petrol station.

The Chief Executive Officer Uganda Railways in his letter dated 8th. Jul.2011 embraced the project and clearly showed that the plot was not in the reserve land of Uganda Railways Corporation.

The Kamwenge Town Council authorities gave the developer a go ahead and approved the plan after obtaining all the necessary taxes.

Over the weekend, Police intercepted the progress at the site accusing the developer of trespassing into the late Frank Mwesige’s piece of land.

Mwijuka Hannington a brother to the deceased says the plot was bought by the late Frank Mwesige on 3rd.Jul.2002 from one Evas Maniragaba on the presence of lawyers from Musana &Co. Advocates.

Levi Bahemuka Town Clerk Kamwenge Town Council refuted allegations of approving the construction of the Petro station and explains that the Town Council only forwarded the developer to higher authorities for further endorsement.

However Mutuye Dan the project developer says he obtained the plot legally and that nothing should stop him from re-developing it.

The police say it will not allow any development on the said plot of land until all the wrangles are solved.
