In a bid to cub unemployment in the country, the government is set to train 3000 graduates in business outsourcing opportunity (BPO) skills.
Speaking at the official opening of the 7th international ICT conference in Kampala today, the minister of Information and Communication Technology, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda said the youths will be trained to utilized ICTs to do work for companies and individuals outside Uganda.
He says with the development of ICT in the country and world at large, educated Ugandans have to embrace the changes in technology if the country is to grow her business and employment base.
Rugunda also pointed out the inability by African universities to take on ICT research for their students yet technology research is a basic component in development of a nation.
He called for the development of a research culture among students in institutions of learning in Uganda.
