Bwaise residents embark on wetland conservation

Resident of Bwaise (111) parish St. Francis zone in Kampala district have today started a campaign geared at conserving wetlands in their area under the guidance of EMLI facility one of the environment protection NGOs operating in the country.

Kavuma Hadadi of EMLI facility says the project will help resident living around water logged areas to maintain hygiene to create free flow of water in drainage channels and also adds that they have plans of moving the campaign into schools.

Bwaise is one of the Kampala suburbs notoriously prone to flooding every time it rains.

EMLI facility have donated cleaning equipments mentioning forks, rakes, spades, wheelbarrows, gloves, hoes among others to move the campaign.

The chairman St.Francis zone, Sekilime Abdulatif applauds EMLI for the good gesture noting that this will promote hygiene and wetland conservation in the area.
