Mulago hospital decries government insensitivity to eye department

The management of Mulago hospital has said that the government ignores the hospital’s eye department leaving it incapacitated to handle ye ailments of Ugandans.

While talking to the media in Kampala, the in-charge of the eye ward, Prof. Agaba Atenyi said that the government has bought very few eye machines adding that most of the equipment used in the ward is from foreign donors.

Agaba says that they have acquired another eye machine worth 60 million shillings from the donors.

He asks the government to fund the eye department as it does to most hospital departments so that it can attend to the eye problems of many patients.

Prof. Agaba also appealed to the government to facilitate district hospitals to be able to carry out primary eye treatment so that the Mulago eye department handles complicated cases.
