Police deploy heavily in Kampala city

The Police and other security agencies have today deployed heavily in and around Kampala following intelligence reports that there was set to be a demonstration.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Ibin Ssenkumbi says there are people who they say want to put the city on fire like London has been in the past week.

The threats come after the instructions from President Museveni directing that a part of Mabira forest be given away to Mehta for sugarcane growing to contain the current sugar crisis in the country.

Ssenkumbi has warned that whoever is planning to cause violence in the country will not be let go Scott free since they have what it takes to handle such rioters.

He has appealed to the public not to entertain such violent actions that are unlawful.
