Uganda government to support bee farming

With the country’s bee farming sector slowing growing and very little is known about them, the government is now calling upon all bee farmers to register with The Uganda National Agriculture Development Organization (TONADO) for the government to easily extend financial assistance to them for growth.

According to the junior minister for agriculture and animal husbandry, Bright Rwamirama, the government has set aside some money specifically to assist bee farmer as a way of improving the sector of honey production in the country.

However, some of the producers of honey are appreciating the little contribution currently extended to them by government saying it has made a significant improvement in their sector.

Currently the country has only 30 producers of honey who also export it to European markets among others.
