European Union asks Uganda to respect human rights

 An envoy of European Union who is on his two day state visit toUgandahas asked the government ofUgandato always take human rights as a top most priority to respect.

Nick Westcott is inUgandato engage president Museveni, the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga and meet other diplomats. Nick Westcott is a British diplomat and he is in charge of the European Union external action service (Africa). We are told that Westcott discussed with Museveni and Rebecca Kadaga issues about economic growth, human rights violations, political dialogue and environment protection among other things.

Westcott has also describedUgandaas an eastAfricacountry with enormous potential both politically and economically. The British diplomat told Museveni and other stakeholders inUgandathat European Union is a developing and political partner toUganda.

Westcott has visitedUgandaat a time when the country is being blamed internationally over the government’s disrespect of human rights.Ugandagovernment brutally clamped down opposition inspired protests against high cost of living and in the process the police and other military organs reportedly killed unarmed civilians including a babe in Masaka.
