Uganda fines South African woman over cocaine abuse

A South African woman, Kathryne Fuller has been fined one million Uganda shillings after pleading guilty of abusing cocaine.

Ms Fuller was on February 17th this year found unconscious in a hotel room in Uganda with an Amazing Race freelance producer, Jeff Rice, the producer, who was found dead. Fuller, who was in a wheel chair because she is paralysed, paid the fine at Buganda road court in Kampala today.

At the court, she was represented by her lawyer Paul Rutisia.Uganda government is planning to deport her toSouth Africasoon.

However her driver, Moses Kalanzi, a Ugandan National aged 23, who was charged for supplying Rice and Fuller with the cocaine, denied the charges.

But Ms Sylvia Nabaggala, the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate court in Kampala remanded him to Luzira Prison till March 15th this year when the matter will come again in court for mention.

The medical report in Kampalarevealed that Fuller and Rice had overdosed cocaine. Rice and Fuller visited Uganda on February 15th this year and stayed atLake Victoria Serena Hotel in Entebbe.
