How Asthma is controlled/treated, cases of asthma, costs of asthma drugs, origin of asthma

Hundreds of people are suffering from asthmatic conditions according to doctors at Mulago National Referral Hospital in Uganda’s capital City Kampala.

The doctors say that for example in Uganda, asthma patients account for over 32 per cent of the acute medical visits in Uganda hospitals. According to the research the doctors have been making, six out of every 10 patients the hospitals receive daily have uncontrolled asthma. However when asthma is controlled well it reduces chances of attacks to at least not more than two a year. Patients suffering from asthma attacks should always be referred to the right hospitals or health centres for treatment and follow up.

Asthma first appeared in Western world thus referring the disease as a western disease. But it later spread to the rest of the world. The doctors say that asthma is mainly caused by over pollution from car exhaust fumes, fumes from some industries and smoke from cigarettes among others. However, some doctors say that asthma can be inherited through family genes.

The disease is a little bit costly to treat. So the high cost of asthma treatment looks to be one of the major challenges in curbing the disease. The people suffering from asthma need to have access to relievers. The relievers include inhalers, a controller medicine to mention but a few.
