The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate, Odo Tayebwa has won the Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality by-elections. In the polls conducted on June 13th, Odo defeated the NRM candidate Nasser Basajjabalaba. According the poll results, scored 7048 votes against Basajjabalaba’s 5653 votes.
The seat fell vacant after the Court of Appeal inKampalarecently nullified Basajjabalaba’s election on grounds that the exercise was marred by massive voter bribery.
The NRM supporters in Bushenyi attribute their election loss to the reported corruption in the NRM.
