Besigye pleads with Museveni to flee Acelem

Col. Kiiza Beisgye of FDC has joined the Amnesty Commission in demanding for the release of captured Lord’s Resistance Army commander Caesar Acellam. He says it is not fair to keep Acelem in jail yet other former LRA rebels have been fled and benefited from amnesty.

Besigye says that the continued detention of Acellam, despite of his willingness to apply for amnesty, tantamount to abuse of his rights as a Uganda supposed to benefit from Amnesty.

Acellam was captured by the UPDF soldiers fighting in the jungles of the Central African Republic in May this year together with his wife, child and helpers. Besigye says that Acelem can benefit from the amnesty law because it’s primary objective was to protect LRA returnees.

The former LRA commanders who have benefited in amnesty include Brig. Kenneth Banya and Sam Kolo. He says what is much needed from Acelem is to denounce rebellion.
