Justice Kibuuka Musoke accused of being a member of DP

 

Today was not a good day for Butambala county MP, Faizal Kikulukunyu (NRM) as he has been flashed out of Parliament.

The high Court that sat inKampalatoday nullified the election victory of Faisal Kikulukunyu over voter bribery.

Justice Kibuuka Musoke ruled that the court received sufficient evidence to prove that Kikulukunyu bribed voters by buying for them steamers, so the nullification of his election victory.

The judge says they based their ruling on evidence of one Everest Kitimbwa, who told court he received a steamer from the MP and later gave it to another voter identified as Aisha Nsonyiwa.

Kikulukunyu was dragged to court by his election rival, Muwanga Kivumbi of the Democratic Party. The MP was jointly sued with the Electoral Commission.

Kivumbi accused the commission of having failed to restrain Kikulukunyu from carrying out illegal activities during the campaign period leading up to the February 18th general elections.

Kivumbi’s lawyers argued that Kikulukunyu offered registered voters various incentives including money, cosmetics, steamers, foodstuffs, cows and footballs, with a view to influencing them to vote for him.

Kivumbi, was represented by Lukwago and company Advocates.  However Kikulukunyu has described the ruling as robbery and accused the judge of being a member of the Democratic Party, who always puts the interests of DP at the forefront.
