Police suspects FDC henchmen killed Tom Julunga

In this article, we again bring you the story of former opposition activist Tom Julunga who was shot dead on 6th June 2009. Julunga was a member of Forum for Democratic Change mobilizer. He was shot thrice in the stomach and later died on his way to Mulago hospital.

The police and FDC put up different committees to investigate the mysterious death of Julunga. Security investigated and came out with these shocking revelations that supporters of FDC’s renegade boss Beti Kamya could have had a hand in shooting Tom Jjulunga.

A source in Uganda police told us that the CID officials followed up all the clues that supporters of Kamya could have murdered Jjulunga in cold blood due to misunderstandings the deceased had with Kamya at the time.

During the memorial service of Tom Julunga at Christ the king church in Kampala, the police deployed heavily because some members of FDC and the public in general kept on shouting Kamya and the government as having had a hand in his murder.

The FDC vice President Salaam Musumba also confirms that Jjulunga was a renowned critic of Kamya. So in the police report it was also stated that Julunga could have been killed by members of FDC perhaps in Betty Kamya’s camp. But the report doesn’t indicate whether Kamya was directly part of the ploy.

The Police sources further revealed that much as some opposition elements pointed accusing fingers at state agents, there were clues that the mind-boggling incident could have been as a result of the deepening rift that was in FDC at the time.
