UNEB to introduce SMS examination registration

Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) is planning to introduce SMS examination registration system where students would be able to register for national exams via Short Messaging Service (SMS) in order to prevent theft of registration fees by unscrupulous school head teachers.
Sources in UNEB told our reporters that such a system will help students to verify whether they have been cleared to sit for exams.
These sources who declined to speak on record because they were not mandated to speak to the press told us that the idea of introducing SMS examination registration follows numerous complaints about fraud where some heads of schools run away with students’ registration fees.
UNEB officials believe that the system if established effectively will help to control the problem. The system would help students to notice in advance that they have not been registered.
