MPs condemn violent arrest of Kizza Besigye in Kiseka market

Some Members of Parliament have condemned the brutal manner in which opposition leader Col. Warren Kizza Besigye  was arrested this morning.

This follows the brutal arrest of Forum for Democratic Change leader, Dr Kizza Besigye this morning amidst chaos at Kisekka Market, in Kampala.

Besigye had gone there as part of the renewed “For God and my Country” (4GC) country-wide processions that were announced on Saturday by various opposition activists.

Western Youth MP Karuhanga Gerald says that Col Besigye is man of integrity and whose right has been abused in a way that portrays a bad image of the Nation.

Tororo County Member  Geofrey Ekanya Says they have already sent all these photographs of the torture of opposition activists to the international criminal court as evidence of brutality against the FDC Party President.

“This time should the freest period till 9th October, as people celebrate their Jubilee they should be allowed to express their joy for achieving 50 Years of Independence instead of unnecessary arrests to disturb the freedom of expressions,” says Obongi County MP in Moyo District Hassan Kaps Fungaroo.

Besigye was later released and escorted to his home in Kasangati after he was held and interrogated by police.
