Districts introduce new TAXES

 

 

The process of getting passports and other travel documents is becoming expensive daily. After the Uganda Migration office hiked fees for getting or renewing passports, the districts have also introduced new passport fees.

The districts councils on August 27th, 2013 passed the following resolutions on their revenue enhancement plan.

That the rates for the revenue ordinance 2010 were adjusted and new sources like passport form fees and boundary opening fees were approved by the councils and they are imbedded in the districts revised revenue ordinances.

 

David Naluwayiro, the Chief Administrative officer of Wakiso district confirmed the development and said that the passport form fees shall be deposited to the sub counties, town councils and municipality revenue collection accounts and the sharing between the districts and lower local councils shall follow the sharing arrangements defined in the local government act.

 

The changes in revenue are in application efective 1st September 2013 and all districts chairpersons, RDCs, district speakers, secretaries for finance, chairpersons finance committees, chief finance officers, districts engineers, districts staff surveyors, districts land officers, senior physical planners and sub county chairpersons were all asked to comply.
