Electoral commission writes new voters register

 

The Electoral Commission (EC) in Uganda has promised to compile new voters register for the year 2016 general elections.

The Secretary for Electoral commission, Sam Rwakoojo revealed the development on Friday that during a media breakfast meeting at Uganda Electoral Commission headquarters in Kampala.

He says the electoral commission will ban the existing voters register and write a new one to avoid confusion, double registration of voters and delete the dead and other non existing people appearing in the register.

Rwakoojo says the commission will be compiled from data collected through the registration for the National Identity cards expected to start this month.
