DTC PhD Studentships in Material Engineering and sciences.

 

The Doctoral Training College (DTC) is offering Four-year PhDs in Materials Engineering with Enhanced Scholarship.

The DTC offers a new direction for PhD study, with an exciting and interdisciplinary approach to postgraduate research training, combining a foundation year, reinforcing core skills in metallurgy, with a three year Doctoral level thesis project.

This is supplemented by training in professional skills and project placements in industry or research institutes in the UK and overseas.

Ten awards available.

Scholarship Application Eligibility Criteria:

Applications are welcome from graduates who have, or expect to obtain, a first class, or upper second, honours, or masters level degree, in; engineering, physics, chemistry, or earth sciences.

Funding:

Ten EPSRC-funded awards providing home fees and a stipend of £13,290 enhanced in the first year to £14,290 pa (Tax free) are available.

In years two to four it is expected that students will be sponsored by industry, with the stipend supplemented by £3000 – £5000 pa.
