Repeating classes causes brain trauma

A female student of Trinity College Nabingo, Mariam Kiwanuka of S.3 class committed suicide after her teachers advised her to repeat class. Mariam Kiwanuka committed suicide at the school premises. It was indeed sad news.
Many students drop out of school and others opt for early marriages after being advised to repeat classes as a way of running out of the embarrassment associated with repeating class or being chased out of school.

Research has shown that class repeating causes brain trauma. Personally I do not believe that a girl child given the fact that their growth rate is high compared to boys should repeat classes. We send our children to school to be taught and failure to pass exams means largely that the child was never taught well not ruling out other factors.

Interestingly, heads of schools order children to repeat classes but they don’t punish the teachers who fail to teach those children to pass exams.
