Mubajje wins breakway Muslim faction

 

The Muft of Uganda Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje has received the Kadhiship nomination report for Pallisa Muslim District. The Report was handed over to the Mufti by the Chairman of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Electoral Commission, Haji Kayongo Ahmed Nyago in his office in Kampala.

The Mufti commended the Muslim Electoral Commission team for a job well-done and asked them to keep up the good work. The Kadhiship nominations for Pallisa Muslim District comprise of three local government districts – Paliisa, Budaka and Kibuku were held last month at the Pallisa Muslim District Headquarters in PallisaTown.

The Chairman Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Electoral Commission Haji Kayongo Nyago said the process went on smoothly and two sheikhs; Abdul Karim Ausi Mujumbi and Dauda Umar were nominated. Dauda, a member of breakaway Muslim faction based in Kibuli, Kampala later withdrew his candidature leaving Abdul Karim Mujumbi to go through unopposed. Abdulkarim Ausi Mujumbi now awaits the decision of the Majilis Ulama to advise the Mufti either to appoint him a substantive District Kadhi of Pallisa Muslim District or reject him if they suspect him to be a member of the breakaway Muslim faction. The event was attended by the retired District Kadhi Pallisa Muslim District Sheikh Ibrahim Sempiira, Pallisa District local government officials and councilors from all the 22 – Twales (Muslim Counties) making up Pallisa Muslim District. Sheikh Abdulkarim Ausi Mujumbi is a graduate of MadinaUniversity in Saudi Arabia.
