Lukwago again beats government in Supreme Court

Kampala embattled Lord Mayor continued to demonstrate that he is a class above the ordinary if it comes to law. The Supreme Court has given him another win in the first half after rubbishing Attorney General Application to send Lukwago back to court of appeal headed by judge Kavuma.

The Supreme Court sided with the Lord Mayor’s lawyers that this court should continue hearing Erias Lukwago’s application. The same court will give its final ruling on the same on 24th/04/2014. The Attorney General (AG) had intended to strike out an application filed by troubled Kampala Lord Mayor Erias lukwago in which Lukwago is seeking to overturn the orders of Justice Steven Kavuma that among others ordered him out of office after he had resumed the same two weeks back.

The five justices of the Supreme Court led by Dr Esther Mayambala unanimously overruled the preliminary objection raised by the Attorney General on grounds that the government side lacked merit and it was poorly filed.
