Vote rigging, misplacement of voters’ names mars Luweero elections

It seems Uganda’s ruling political organisation; the National Resistance Movement (NRM) did it intension to carryout the disenchanfrisement of voters in Luweero district from the voters roll. Everywhere across Luweero it was the general complaint for example in Ngogolo parish, Butuntumula subcounty and Luweero town council.

At Kiberenge polling station out of 400 voters in that polling station only 12 voters managed to trace their names in that voters register and they are the only one who voted the rest were turned down. As they couldnt locate their names in the voters register …so they couldnt vote and there hasnt been any serious voting.

But this only affected the winning margin of the candidates but did not do much to DP’s Brenda Nabukenya’s win.

On Thursday morning, one NRM staunch supporter disclosed to journalists how his party does it that way. Knowing that polling station is opposition stronghold, the missing names are transferred to nearby polling stations, mostly those where the NRM candidate commands some support!
