Inter religious council commends oil exploration

 

The council presidents of the inter -religious council of Uganda have concluded their two day visit to Bunyoro sub region. The visit was organised jointly by the inter religious council of Uganda and the global rights alert, was intended to provide an opportunity for Ugandans to acquaint themselves with the process of oil exploitation and development since the discovery of oil and gas in the albertine region.

During their religious stay in Bunyoro, the inter religious presidents met some stakeholders in Bunyoro including the king of Bunyoro, religious leaders, civil society organisations, and total Uganda, one of the exploration exploration companies in Bunyoro.

The council presidents of the inter religious council of Uganda observed that the communities in Bunyoro were largely supportive of the project and have high hopes that their living conditions will improve as a result of the oil discovery.
