South Sudan approved to join East Africa

 

During the opening of the 6th Northern Corridor Integration Project Summit at Serena hotel Kigali, Rwanda, the East African presidents led by Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya passed and approved the proposal that was seeking South Sudan to join the East African community.

Museveni, Kagame and Kenyatta concurred with the resolutions passed by the earlier ministerial meetings and they passed the proposal for South Sudan to join the East African Community.

The North Corridor Ministerial Meeting that was held on July 2, 2014 approved the formal joining of the Republic of South Sudan while Burundi decided to stay as observer for the coming three months and eventually join the projects. The projects under the Northern Corridor rose from 8- 14 to expedite holistic integration of countries of the Northern Corridor.
