China and Korea to develop Makerere University land

 

Firms from China and Korea have expressed interest in developing Makerere University’s land. The development follows a call Makerere University put to international firms through the media.

The land China and Korea plans to develop on behalf of Makerere is found at Makerere University estates: Makerere University Main Campus, Katalemwa, Makindye, Bwaise and Kololo.

China and Korea will develop Makerere land under the Public Private Partnerships (PPP) arrangement, code named ‘Makerere University Infrastructure Development Marshall Plan’ covering 11 projects.

The 11 projects Korea and China intends to develop include: Makerere University Teaching Hospital, Makerere University Student Resource Centre, Student Hostels at the Main Campus and Kabanyolo, Makerere University Hotel and Convention Centre, Makerere University Centre for Innovation and Technology Incubation, Makerere University perimeter fence and Commercial Buildings, Transport Hub, Middle Income Apartments, Upper Market Apartments, Makerere University Centre for Gender and Development Studies and Makerere University School of Law
