How Uganda dealt with donors to use court to quash anti homosexual law

The constitutional court quashed the anti homo act 2014 after court was satisfied beyond doubt that the Speaker of Uganda parliament  Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga flouted rule 23 of the parliamentary rule of procedure and presided over the passing of the nullified law that lacked quorum even when 4 people including the Premier Rt.HonAmama Mbabazi prompted her of the matter.

Some people now think Museveni duped Ugandans on this legislation that it was deliberate to pass it without quorum living a back door to challenge the legislation.

The school of thought is that Museveni never genuinely supported the Act. during the installation of Anglican Arch-bishop Stanley Ntagali at Namirembe cathedral in 2012, Museveni said in his speech that he had no problem with homosexuals provided they do their things privately and even further emphasized his point that he cant kiss his wife Janet Kataha Museveni in public.

And in the week preceding the judgement the people of Uganda saw Sweden resuming aid to Uganda and also heard some circles in Government being apologetic to the donors that Uganda had made a mistake to support the legislation and assured them of the likely court process that could nail the law.

Ugandans have also questioned the speedy trial it has taken for it to be expeditiously sorted out yet the Lord mayor of Kampala city His Worship Hon Erias Lukwago since April when the Supreme court concluded its hearing its now August Justice hasn’t been delivered.
