NRM electoral commission boss Dr Tanga Odoi has revealed to party members during today’s caucus meeting held at president’s office in Kampala that all NRM registered members are free to pick nomination forms for all positions including the party president and the national chairperson.
Dr Odoi while revealing the NRM road map for 2016 said that all NRM members who have the required qualifications are entitled to contest for any position. Also the government chief whip, Ruth Nankabirwa, informed Dr Odoi that the position of the party president is not applicable since NRM members already made a resolution in Kyankwanzi to allow president Museveni stand as a sole candidate for the party.
In response Dr Odoi informed members that NRM electoral commission is an independent body which does not operate under NRM caucus decisions. The angry Odoi further assured members that NRM electoral commission has no sole candidate adding that whoever is interested in the position of party president should report to the electoral commission in person with a fee of 10Mshs for nomination. He also warned members to verify their academic credentials before picking nomination forms. Odoi confirmed to members that however is caught with forged documents will be held responsible to the party.
Dr Odoi appealed to NRM members to immediately start picking up nomination forms before the 31st this month with authentic academic documents and a fee of 10Mshs for president and national chairperson, 5Mshs for the first and second national vice chairperson, 2Mshs for MPs, 1.5Mshs for the lord mayor among others.
