President Museveni has commended the International University of East Africa for their ability to extend affordable and accessible University and professional tertiary education to Ugandans through well designed programs. The President, represented by the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, was presiding over the second graduation of the International University of East Africa.
The ceremony took place at the University’s campus in Kasanga.  The President commended the University for its national, regional and international outlook. He said this was in line with the vision held by the National Resistance Movement political organization of regional integration.
‘It is only when all the African people have attained high levels of literacy and skills that any individual African state will be able to claim total liberation’, Museveni observed.
He appealed to all Universities in the country to consider designing and offering courses that equip the youth with skills that are desired by today’s job market. He also urged the Ministry of Education and Sports to constantly provide career guidance manuals to students especially at secondary school level.
The Chancellor of the University Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile said the vision of the University is to be the technological university of choice in East and Central Africa. The International University of East Africa was founded five years ago by Mr. Alwi Hassan. The ceremony was attended by the University Council and Administrative staff.
