Ex UNRA boss warns companies and individuals on fake building materials on the market.

The former Executive Director of the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) Engineer, Sebugga Kimeze has warned the companies and individuals seeking to construct quality structures and house units to look for laboratories to test the materials before ordering them in bulk.

While speaking to journalists this on Monday at Uganda Manufacturer’s Association (UMA) conference hall in Kampala on the going Construction and Interiors Design Exhibition 2016, Kimeze revealed that there were some construction materials on market currently which are fake and that it requires people to first test the materials they procure in order to avoid losses.

He said that construction materials can be subjected to testing before use in private and Uganda National Bureau of standards laboratories available in the country.

Kimeze said that due to fake construction materials purchased on market ,the architecture engineers are not able to make actual technical specifications of the facility are building and completing it in time and that this brings about losing some contracts from clients.

He also said that the construction   exhibition is important for consumers to provide an opportunity for various stakeholders in the construction industry to meet and share ideas and information; display their products, services and technology and receive instant feedback from current and potential customers.
