As the burden of disability continues to manifest itself among Ugandans which is also another way to retarding the national economy and increasing the burden to the health sector, the health ministry together with Naryan Seva Sansthan and the Indian women association have now organized a free orthopedic diagnostic camp at Mulago national referral hospital slated for 26th to 28 this month.

In this free camp orthopedic experts from India will be coming to Uganda to carryout operations that will include replacing broken limbs, provide wheel chairs to all those found with disability issues.

Now the head of the disability department in the ministry of health, Dr. Stanely Bulukirwe, revealed that Uganda having a good number of disabled persons and mainly babies who are standing at 12.4% according to the UBOS census report and in general 4 to 5 million all combined thus the need for this free camp to extend service to those that really need it.

Among the causes of disability include accidents, diseases, injuries which need to be avoided through behavioral change.
