Former MPs say life outside parliament is sweeter and less stressing.

Former Members of Parliament during the 9th parliament have said that life for the current serving MPs is stressing more than when one is outside of parliament like they are.The former MPs said they no longer have to be bothered with paying bills for their constituents.

“Imagine having to pay bills for burial year in year out and also cater for school fees of many children. People would think we make money but its a very heavy burden,” said Edward Balidawkafufu, the former MP for Kigulu North.

The former MPs revealed this while announcing the formation of their Umbrella Association known as members of the 9th Parliament Association which comprise of a member ship of 200 former members of parliament of the 9th Parliament at a meeting with journalists at parliament.

The Interim Association leadership is led by theformer Tororo municipality MP, Sanjay Tanah as the Chairperson, Tim Lwanga as Treasurer, Vice Chairperson is the former MP for Bubulo East, Simon Mulongo and Secretary is  Edward Balidawakafufu.

Tanah says their aim is to continue sharing and provide guidance on issues of national importance such as legislative and policy formation and enhancement of the economic well-being of its members.

 However, these former MPs say that they live stress free life compared to the serving members of parliament.

While discussing with journalists, former MPs among them; Dr. Micheal Bayiga Lulume, Simon Mulongo and Tim Lwanga said that the current serving MPs are burdened by community work where they are required to contribute on daily basis.
