Presidency minister Frank Tumwebaze has warned district councils against interfering with the work of RDCs.
According to Tumwebaze, district councils have no mandate to sit and fire RDCs who are doing their work of monitoring government programs.
His remarks come a week after media reports suggesting that Kanungu district council unanimously passed a resolution to fire the area RDC.
He says much as there are some RDCs who misbehave, these are all handled by the ministry when complaints are forwarded but it is not the mandate of DCs to fire RDCs.
He says the RDCs are now playing their core mandate of monitoring government services properly and need to be supported unlike in the past when most of them had turned into land dealers among others.
