No outbreak of small pox in Uganda

The Ministry of Health says there is no outbreak of small pox in Bududa as it was earlier reported in the local press.

However four cases of chicken pox have been reported in Bulucheke IDP camp in Bududa since March 15th, 2010.

The first case was a two and half year old child who was diagnosed and treated in the camp.

On 16th March two siblings of four and nine years were also diagnosed and treated in the camp.

On 21st March an 11 months old child was diagnosed and treated in the camp.

The Acting Director General of Health services, Nathan Kenya Mugisha says since then, no more cases have been reported and so far no death has been recorded.

Mugisha says the Ministry of Health and World Health Organisation have reassured the public that there is no outbreak of small pox in the country.
