Chogm committee members clash

Ultimate Media

Members of Parliament’s public accounts committee are accusing some of their colleagues and some ministers of trying to discredit their work by laying different traps.

The committee is investigating the expenditure of funds during the 2007 Common Wealth Heads of Government and has so far discovered several cases in which public funds were grossly misused or embezzled.

The committee’s lead counsel Tom Kazibwe says a lot is being done to tarnish the names of committee members including offers of bribes and phone tapping among others.

Kazibwe says some members of Parliament are even part of the ploy to fail their efforts, adding that the committee will not bow to any efforts aimed at derailing their work.
