Endless wars in Great lakes region is the cause for violence

The programme officer at the international conference on the great lakes region (ICGRL) Nathan Byamukama is attributing the increased acts of gender sexual violence to continued violence and acts of war in the region which then leaves women and children in risk zone to have such illegal acts performed against them..

But states that though most ICGRL member states have no laws that protect men against rape with Uganda being one of them, he is very much positive that all member states will enact laws that protect men who suffer rape.

Now with GBV acts continuing to manifest, Uganda will tomorrow be opening up a regional training facility on the fight against sexual and gender based violence in the great lakes region that will facilitate training for sector players to have experience on handling GBV cases.

The commissioner in charge of gender and women affairs at the gender ministry, Elizabeth Kasimire says, this will help reduce the case back log concerning GBV in the country and region.
