Transport fares rise ahead of Easter season

 Passengers traveling to northern Uganda, west Nile and eastern Uganda for Easter season may find it hard as transport fares have been doubled and in some incidences tripled.  

 Traveling to western Uganda will cost passengers a fortune. The buses that have been charging between 15,000 to 20,000 shillings to get to Kabale, Kanungu, Bushenyi and Mbarara among other areas they are now charging between 30,000 to 40,000 shillings claiming that the fuel prices are high.

 The Spokesperson of Uganda National Roads Authority in a statement today urged drivers not to over cruise on roads this Easter season as some of the roads around the country are still under repair.  On the same development the spokesperson of police, Judith Nabakooba also asks drivers to drive carefully and avoid boozing while driving on the road.

 She says most of the road accidents in Uganda are a result of drunken driving.
