The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has said that about 34% of Ugandan women are unable to access family planning contraceptives.
Florence Mpabulungi, the team leader population and development UNFPA says that most of Ugandan women in rural areas cannot access modern forms of contraceptives.
Ms Mpabulungi was addressing MPs at the international conference for African Parliamentarians on Population and Development at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel Lweza.
The UPFPA population leader says that over 215 women worldwide were unable to access family planning methods. Over 70% of Uganda’s population has remained unemployed, something that may fail Uganda to achieve its Vision 2014.
