The Minister of Uganda for Security, Amama Mbabazi has yet again snubbed the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee.

Mbabazi was today expected to appear before the committee to respond to queries raised by the Auditor General in relation to funds spent during CHOGM 2007. But in his letter to the chairperson of the committee, Mbabazi questioned the powers of the committee, asking the speaker of Parliament, Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi to give the necessary guidance on the matter.

Addressing journalists at Parliament today, the committee’s lead Council, Tom Kazibwe said the delaying tactics by some top government officials are only intended to drag behind the work of the committee.

The Vice President of Uganda, Prof Gilbert Bukenya recently objected to appear before the same committee but MPs insist he must appear and answer queries relating to misuse of CHOGM funds.
