Africa Union Summit in Kampala shows failure of terrorists who planted Kampala bombs

The presence of all African Union Summit delegates at the Kampala meeting is a defeat to terrorists who last week planted bombs in Kampala Uganda that killed more than 74 people.

Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Sam Kutesa says terrorists wanted to keep Ugandan in fear and to stop other people from visiting Uganda, but they have failed because all the delegates that registered for the African union Summit are in Uganda attending.

He was speaking on Monday at the first official meeting of the African Union at Munyonyo Commonwealth resort in Kampala. The 8 day summit is being attended by ambassadors accredited to the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It will end with African Union heads of State meeting from 25th– 27th July at the same venue.

Minister Kutesa appealed to African countries to work together to bolster security in all countries since no development can take place without peace and security.

He said delegates will intensively discuss security issues, food security in Africa, as well as maternal health, which is the major focus of this Africa Union Summit in Kampala.
