The Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister, Pious Bigirimana has assured Ugandans that his office will properly utilize the funds given for the implementation of the Peace Recovery and Development Plan and that the money meant for implementing programmes under PRDP will not be diverted to other purposes.
Corruption and misallocation of government resources has been reported in many Uganda government departments, which has increased public district in government ministries to put money to good use.
However Bigirimana says the measures put in place to ensure that the PRDP cash is properly utilised are tough enough to prevent any misappropriation of the cash.
Bigirimana says for instance his ministry always demands work plans from the various districts involved in the implementation of PRDP before it can release any cash to such a district. The Prime Minister’s Office also demands that such districts give performance reports to the ministry for the money given to such districts previously before the ministry releases more money to the districts.
Bigirimana also says the results delivered on the ground show how properly PRDP cash has been utilized and that the office of the Prime Minister will continue with such measures such that more fruitful results are visible on the ground.
