Laurent Gbagbo arrested by Special French Forces, Alassane Outara now in charge

Many pro democracy people accorss Africa have welcomed the arrest of former Ivory Coast president Laurent Gbago who was on Monday arrested by French forces in Ivory Coast.

This will pave way for Alassane Ouattara who is believed to have won the December Presidential Elections to take over power and bring clam back to the former French Colony.

Gbagbo had refusing to cede power to Ouattara and soldiers loyal to him have been fighting battles with Outtara’s soldiers which had paralyzed the country over the past months.

UN peacekeepers have long accuse Gbabgo forces of endangering the civilian population by clinging on to power and it came as no surprise when he was captured by UN backed French forces.

The French have maintained a military command in their former colony since years of war brought volatility to the west African country.

Reports indicate that French soldiers have seized Ivorian leader Laurent Gbagbo from his residence and handed him over to the opposition.

They reportedly went in after French tanks advanced on the compound in Ivory Coast’s main city, Abidjan, following French and UN helicopter attacks.
