Activists for charge leader Mathias Mpuga arrested by police

The coordinator for Action for charge activist Mathias Mpuga Nsamba was arrested last night by police yesterday and released after recording a statement at Lukaya police.

He was picked by an identified police officer a few metres from Bajja at around 9pm and taken to Lukaya police station.

Mpuga narrated that when he was travelling to Kampala he bound into police road block. He says the police told him that he was wanted by police for mobilizing protestors of walk to work in Nyendo last week where a two year old child was shot dead by a stray bullet.

He was grilled for close to two hours by the southern region criminal investigation officer Christopher Lugumayo about his role in the Nyendo protest.

Mpuga says he denied any role in the Nyendo protest and told the police that he only read the protest in the newspapers.

Christopher Rugumayo the southern region criminal investigation officer says they wanted Mpuga to explain his role in the walk to work protest.
