Bishop urges opposition politicians to put more value on people’s life

The Anglican Bishop of Bynyoro-Kitara Dioceses Right Reverend Stanley Ntagali has criticised the opposition politician in Uganda for not taking good responsibility of other people’s lives.

He said this in his Easter Sunday sermon to the congregation at cathedral yesterday. Right reverend Bishop Ntagali castigated opposition politicians saying some are seeking their own interest than considering people’s lives.

He said that during these political violence, civilian are being used as human shield by opposition led protesters. He says most of the time politicians do not measure the strength of their protests to the civilians and aimed at plunging the country into political turmoil.

The Bishop was referring to the recent walk to work protests led by different opposition leaders, in which at least foru people have been killed.

He expressed concern that despite the resulting killings of innocent civilian opposition politicians have continued with their political activism at the expenses of innocent civilian.

But the opposition have blamed the police for using excessive force in stopping walk to work protests, and for killing. Mathia Mpuga the Coordinator of Activists for Change that are organising the protests says that all the four civilians killed were shot by policemen and army officers.
